I feel really behind. I made a list of things I wanted to blog about just for the shear fact I didn't want to forget. I mean this is about keeping track of our life, right?
We've been stayin' busy going to parties and such, adopting a cat and helping out the family. Last week I was able to help Clark & Rachel by picking up the girls from the bus. Basically I was pretending to be their mother. Homework, clean the room and bath. The usual. It tickled me pink to be with McKinzie and Morgan. It's so crazy to see the different personalities in them even at their age.
Yes, you did read correctly, we adopted a cat. Her name is Snow Belle. We really wanted a dog but our apartment couldn't handle a dog. Nor could we. But we couldn't be more delighted to have Snow Belle.
she loves to get our attention by taking our attention away from what we are doing...
I just finished one of the best books ever. In fact I took a long time to read it because I did NOT want it to end. If you have not read it.. shame on you... go check it out at the library.
A few weekends ago we went to the Battle of the Bands 2009 at the GA Dome with Brandon and Amber. There were a few famous singers there but I can't remember their names. If my sister went she could have told ya. But as it goes, I can't keep anything straight.
Emily was amazing enough to take me with her to Kooza. It amazed me how talented everyone was. My favorite was the guy on the unicycle dancing with a women like they were on ice. My heart couldn't take some of the stuff they were doing. I felt a panic attack coming through most of their acts.
My mind has been racing lately. In fact to the point that I don't sleep. Two weeks I have been sleep deprived. I woke up in the middle of the night and the thought came to me that I needed to write about food storage. Something we have been working on in the past few weeks and continue to do so. If you don't know what food storage is all about and the link doesn't answer your questions.. it's something we have been commanded to do by our Church Leaders in case of an emergency for years.. job loss, catastrophe, the list could go on.. Lately I have been really grateful for that counsel.

Do I dare say it?
I could not enjoy today. I just couldn't. And I hate that I couldn't enjoy watching history being made. Here's the deal... I want to start out by saying I have high hopes for the change that Obama has promised. I really do. He has some big shoes to fill and think he'll do his darnest to fill em'. So what's my problem? People are treating him more like a celebrity than a President. Do I dare even say they are treating him like a Savior? I don't give a flying flip what he or his wife is wearing to a ball and for the news programs to talk about it for an hour is out of hand. This is not what matters. My list goes on..
I am however, grateful I live in America! I'm also grateful to see where we have come as a country that we can elect an African American as our president. I know this is a country like no other. And to actually be born here, raise a family at a time like this- blows my mind. It's sometimes too much for me to take in. I'm just glad I know my part in the world (at least a very small portion of it).
I'll end by saying: God Bless America!

Twilight Fan?

If you are like most, you like the Twilight series. Teenagers are obsessed, young women are trying not to obsess and the older women are left intrigued (or obsessed).
If you fall into any of these categories or you just like good music; you should check out the Mitch Hansen Band. His sister is one of my best friends. We have Sunday dinner with the Hansen family on occasion and his mom made my wedding dress for when Cony and I make it to the temple and are sealed. (It's GORGEOUS!) The story behind making the CD is amazing. He read the books, and wrote lyrics that play right a long with the story line. He recorded the music in his closet in about a week, which if you listen to the CD you would never know. He just got a record deal in September and made a new/updated CD. I love them both. Don't be surprised if his music is in the next movie.

What's Christmas without a gun?
I realize I'm really late in the game for posting our holiday doings but that's just how the cookie has been crumbling lately.
I couldn't wait for Christmas to get here and then when it finally does, it's over in a second. But we had some really nice down time with mom on Christmas Eve. Then of course the next day when everyone else shows up it's complete mayhem. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm not really sure how to describe how the day went as far as my feelings are concerned. When people realize it was our first Christmas without dad they get this look on their face and ask 'oh how was your Christmas?'. Well how do you think it was? I can only compare it to when others ask why we don't have kids or aren't pregnant.
Apparently I'm a little testy. It really was a beautiful day.
We accomplished a lot during the break. I quite my job! I feel so much better about my life. We blew up fruit with a 12 gauge shot gun. OK, maybe just Cony blew up fruit with the 12 gauge. But it was still fun watching. And we got a TON of yard work done at mom's. Now we just have a huge pile of branches to burn. Oh and we had dinner with Cony's dad and step mom which was surprisingly very nice. I felt comfortable the entire time and they were both very pleasant. And who doesn't like a free dinner?!
I'm really looking forward to 2009. Where I can make (or at least figure out how) my hopes and dreams a reality. I'm so grateful for my opportunities in life.

ONE big weekend.
Lots of celebration been goin' on in the fam. Most importantly Clark graduated from Southern Poly; something to do with Engineering. It was a proud moment and know that Dad was with us.
And Cony and I celebrated our big One year. We kept it pretty low key- in fact we didn't even buy presents for each other. We just loved each other and spent the weekend in a really nice hotel and did NOTHING. It was just what the doctor ordered. Try it sometime.
I was on the hunt for a picture of me as a baby with my dad as Santa Clause. Didn't find it, but found these instead. I have very fond memories of Christmas growing up and can't wait to make those same type of memories with our kiddos. When we have them of course.

Just call us Martha
For the first time in a while I have been achin' for Christmas to get here so I can decorate! I haven't had a tree in a couple of years and this is the first for Cony and I to have 'our' tree. Christmas was almost forgotten last year since we got married only 10 days before.. But this year I started making ornaments weeks ago and last Monday Chay and I decided to have a craft day. I didn't go into work that day and we literally spent the entire day crafting things while watching sappy girl movies. Example: P.S. I love you. It was great. Although I still have some things left undone, I couldn't love my, I mean 'our' tree more.
Stockings I made out of felt. Very cheap.
Our first official ornament. 2007.
Our nativities.
This one my mommy made for us. One of my most treasured items.
I know this is random but these towels were our birthday gifts from my mom. She had them embroidered with a fork for Cony and spoon for me. Our nicknames for each other. I guess I should explain why we call each other by utensils. When we were dating and we would have a conversation through text messaging, I would say 'you are such a dork', but my phone always put it has 'you are such a fork'... it's one of those things. But I love these towels, most assuredly some of the best gifts we've gotten.

Complex

Yes, I'm a huge fan of the Twilight series. I was one of those people who went to see it at 12 a.m. showing on Friday. Cony has not read any of the books and probably won't. However, he has been getting girls (teeny poppers-or young college girls) asking to have their photos with him and compliment after compliment saying he looks like Edward. Seriously, I have lost count at this point at how many times... So this morning we were late for church but I found myself not being able to walk out the door without having my hair done, because I do not want to be one of those girls where others are wondering how I got such a good looking guy. You know the type? I'm ashamed to admit it but I have wondered that myself with a few couples. While thinking this, I realized I'm getting a slight complex. (Please note, I do not say these things looking for compliments or such words of affirmation...at ALL!)
But since reading the book I always felt Cony was my Edward. I would without a second thought become immortal to be with him.
