I could not enjoy today. I just couldn't. And I hate that I couldn't enjoy watching history being made. Here's the deal... I want to start out by saying I have high hopes for the change that Obama has promised. I really do. He has some big shoes to fill and think he'll do his darnest to fill em'. So what's my problem? People are treating him more like a celebrity than a President. Do I dare even say they are treating him like a Savior? I don't give a flying flip what he or his wife is wearing to a ball and for the news programs to talk about it for an hour is out of hand. This is not what matters. My list goes on..
I am however, grateful I live in America! I'm also grateful to see where we have come as a country that we can elect an African American as our president. I know this is a country like no other. And to actually be born here, raise a family at a time like this- blows my mind. It's sometimes too much for me to take in. I'm just glad I know my part in the world (at least a very small portion of it).
I'll end by saying: God Bless America!

Twilight Fan?
If you are like most, you like the Twilight series. Teenagers are obsessed, young women are trying not to obsess and the older women are left intrigued (or obsessed).
If you fall into any of these categories or you just like good music; you should check out the Mitch Hansen Band. His sister is one of my best friends. We have Sunday dinner with the Hansen family on occasion and his mom made my wedding dress for when Cony and I make it to the temple and are sealed. (It's GORGEOUS!) The story behind making the CD is amazing. He read the books, and wrote lyrics that play right a long with the story line. He recorded the music in his closet in about a week, which if you listen to the CD you would never know. He just got a record deal in September and made a new/updated CD. I love them both. Don't be surprised if his music is in the next movie.

What's Christmas without a gun?
I realize I'm really late in the game for posting our holiday doings but that's just how the cookie has been crumbling lately.
I couldn't wait for Christmas to get here and then when it finally does, it's over in a second. But we had some really nice down time with mom on Christmas Eve. Then of course the next day when everyone else shows up it's complete mayhem. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm not really sure how to describe how the day went as far as my feelings are concerned. When people realize it was our first Christmas without dad they get this look on their face and ask 'oh how was your Christmas?'. Well how do you think it was? I can only compare it to when others ask why we don't have kids or aren't pregnant.
Apparently I'm a little testy. It really was a beautiful day.
We accomplished a lot during the break. I quite my job! I feel so much better about my life. We blew up fruit with a 12 gauge shot gun. OK, maybe just Cony blew up fruit with the 12 gauge. But it was still fun watching. And we got a TON of yard work done at mom's. Now we just have a huge pile of branches to burn. Oh and we had dinner with Cony's dad and step mom which was surprisingly very nice. I felt comfortable the entire time and they were both very pleasant. And who doesn't like a free dinner?!
I'm really looking forward to 2009. Where I can make (or at least figure out how) my hopes and dreams a reality. I'm so grateful for my opportunities in life.
